Emmanuel Owens

Mr. Emmanuel Owens was born September 17, 1974, and departed this life September 24, 2019, in Greenville, North Carolina. He was the son of the late Carletha Priest Owens and George Owens, Jr. Preceded his death is his sister Coleen Owens.  

Emmanuel enrolled in Job Corp for a while after attending Lumberton High School. He worked for several construction companies until his health declined. He decided to start a trade of cutting hair. He was affectionately referred to as “Man or Toby” by his siblings.  He didn’t mind offering assistance to his family. He enjoyed spending quality time with those he loved. His favorite hobbies were fishing, grilling, and playing basketball.

Emmanuel moved to Greenville, North Carolina in 2011. Where he later met his wife. He was a member of Philippi Church of Christ under the leadership of Bishop Randy Royal and Pastor Dameion Royal. He joined the church and was baptized on May 2012. He served in various roles. He was a loving, caring and giving individual, who had a heart for helping others. Extending his love, he and his wife was a caregiver for one of the members of the church.

Emmanuel leaves to cherish his loving memories; his wife Denise Howard Owens of the home; his son, Sabare Emmanuel Owens “Junior” and Sadiya Owens of Latta, SC.; six sisters, Roberta Greene of Charlotte, NC; Darletha O. Murphy (Randolph) of Dillon, SC, Della O. McKinnon (Cedric) of Raleigh, NC, Mary Elizabeth Owens of Goldsboro, NC, Margaretta O. Watkins of Andover, KS, Kisha Michelle Owens of Maxton, NC; three brothers, Charles Owens (Judy), Tommy Owens both of Lumberton, NC, David Owens of Goldsboro, NC;  eight nephews, eight nieces, a host of cousins and friends.  His labor of love will be cherished forever.
