Lester Ireland Sparks

Mr. Lester Ireland Sparks, age 82, transitioned on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital in Washington, North Carolina.  He was born on May 20, 1939 in Irontin, Ohio, the son of the late Chester Sparks and Virgie Carroll.

Lester received his education through the 9th grade before leaving to work for the railroad, and later joined the US Army.

Lester met and married the love of his life, Judith Johnson and to this union three children were born.  Lester received gainful employment  with the City of Toledo Sanitation Department.  He was a member of various Horseman’s clubs through the years, and the Lucas County Sheriff’s Mounted Auxillary.

Lester loved camping, riding horses, his wife, children and grandchildren, along with all of his other family members.

Lester was preceded in death by his mother, Virgie Carroll; father, Chester Sparks; sisters, Mary Grosjean, Bethel Easton, Dorothy Troutman, Debra Brazelton, Aileen Joseph, Sue Mesker; brothers, Arthur, Earl, and Otis.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Judith Sparks; two daughters, Rhonda Moore of Chocowinity, North Carolina, and JoAnn Anderson of Vanceboro, North Carolina; one son, Randy Sparks of Swanton, Ohio; three granddaughters, Renee Sparks, Allison Sparks, and Alice Anderson; three grandsons, Bradley Moore, Steven Moore, and Henry Anderson; seven great-grandchildren, Ti-Derion, Kaisyn, Averie, Elliot, Serena, Jamison, and Nash; a special nephew, Randell L. Sparks and wife Francis Marie of Chocowinity, North Carolina; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and several lifelong friends.
