A Time To Be Born
Rebecca Ann Speller, known to most as “Ann”, was born to Celia Boyd Jones and Roland Jones, Sr. on June 29, 1936 in Bethel, North Carolina.
A Time To Grow
Ann was educated and graduated from Pitt County Training School in Grimesland, North Carolina in 1956.
Ann, after graduation from high school, relocated to Hampton, Virginia. Ann received a certificate in Nursing Assistant and worked for several years.
Ann married David Lee Speller of Ahoskie, North Carolina in 1961. Together they built a beautiful life and were blessed with three (3) wonderful children. Ann was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who cherished her family.
Ann was raised by loving parents and was taught the love of the Lord. Ann accepted Christ at an early age and attended Hampton Free Will Baptist Church while living in Hampton, Virginia.
Upon relocating back to North Carolina, Ann united with Sweet Hope Minisitries Church where she sang with the choir for many years. Ann served faithfully until her health declined.
Ann worked at Singer Furniture Company, Chocowinity, North Carolina and Hamilton Beach Company located in Washington, North Carolina.
Ann, also, volunteered in the classroom at Pitt Community College located in Greenville, North Carolina, with her sister, Jacqualane Jones.

One of the highlights of Ann’s life continued to be to see her Sweet Hope church family coming to visit, and most of all her pastor, Apostle Melvin Murphy, whom Ann lovingly called “her buddy”. Ann spoke often and lovingly about the outpouring of love from her Sweet Hope church family including the food, fruit baskets, and holiday gifts. Ann also enjoyed the many home- cooked meals from her family and friends. Ann knew all of her Sweet Hope church family and thanked them all by name.
Ann, also, listened daily to her gospel music.
Ann enjoyed going to her church, Sweet Hope, with her family often even after moving to Universal Healthcare.
A Time to Die
