Legacy of Life
Mr. Stanley Earl Smith departed this life on December, 20, 2020 at 5:25 p.m. at his home.
He was born on January 14, 1957, in Simpson, NC to Samuel and Rethia Gray-Smith. Stanley was a dedicated and faithful member of the Reimage Church (formerly known as Faith and Victory). He was a lifelong member of Reimage church. He joined Faith and Victory Church 38 years ago. He served faithfully as an usher (Door Keeper) in the house of God under the leadership of the former Pastor, John Zabawski and current Pastor, Chris Hopkins.
Stanley was educated in the Pitt County Public School and graduated from D.H. Connely in 1977. Immediately after graduating from high school, he went into the workforce. In November 1980, Stanley was united in holy matrimony to Vickey Becton.
Stanley worked at National Spinning Company, Grady White Boat and was last employed with ASMO in Greenville, NC. When not working, Stanley could be found watching the Western Channel, and his beloved Carolina Panthers and the Laker. He was a true Carolina Panthers and Lakers fan.
He was preceded in death by three sisters; Gloria SmithFleet, Elaine Smith and Darlene Gatling, two brothers; Glenn Smith and Ray Charles Smith.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories, his wife of 40 years, Vickey Becton-Smith of the home; his daughter, Veronica Smith, Charlotte, NC, his son; Stanley Smith Jr. (Crystal), Greenville, NC. Four grandchildren: Brittany Smith, Jaylan Ormond, Nakiya Palmer, and Brandon Smith. Mother-inLaw; Willie Mae Lawrence-Becton of the home. Three sisters: Terri Ann Williams (Randy), Greenville, NC, Rethia Smith, Grimesland, NC, and Carolyn Smith Holton (Samuel). Two brothers: Samuel Smith, Jr. (Carolyn), Simpson, NC and Carlton Smith (Jackie), Greenville, NC. One aunt; Renee Gray, Baltimore, Md., two uncles: John Henry Gray, Norfolk, Va., and Greg Gray, Baltimore, MD. One sister-in-law; Virginia BectonCooper and two brothers-in law: Richard Becton (Lisa), Grimesland, NC and Charles Becton (Evelyn), Greenville, NC. Three special friends: His brother-in-love; Randy Williams and Alfonso Gutridge and Keith Clayton and as well as many other family and friends.

In an effort to bring as many members of your family, friend, co-workers, and the community together to participate as they would in normal times, we will be providing live streaming of the funeral services to provide access to anyone who wants to feel and be a part of the service.
It is critically important that families be allowed to share their loss with others through a traditional family gathering. Rountree Family Mortuary is willing to help you plan a more traditional service once the public health circumstances have improved. This is a rapidly evolving situation and information and guidance change frequently. We will continue to update you with new or relevant information as the need arises.
